He was part of an R&B group called Undacova before launching his solo career in 1999 when he released his neo-soul debut album Country Boy.

He co-wrote the Charlie Wilson Grammy nominated song “There Goes My Baby” with Kenneth Edmonds and Daryl Simmons and has collaborated with other artists such as Angie Stone, Raphael Saadiq, Chico DeBarge, Claudette Ortiz, and K-Ci & JoJo.

Born and raised in Monroe North Carolina, he had a very musical upbringing, singing in his mother’s local gospel group as a young boy.

Some of his biggest influences as a musician include Sam Cooke, Bobby Womack, Donny Hathaway, and Marvin Gaye.
