His father was a finance minister which inspired his career. He attended military school in Riyadh. He then went on to receive his bachelors degree in business administration from Menlo College in California. He earned his masters degree from Syracuse University. His business career began in 1979 after his graduation from Menlo.
In 2008, he was listed on Time Magazine’s list Time 100, an annual list of the hundred most influential people in the world.
He is a grandson of Ibn Saud, the first Saudi King. He was born and raised in Jeddah, Saudi Arabia.
After the September 11th attacks, he gave a check of 10 million dollars to New York City Mayor Rudy Giuliani who rejected the money after Al-Waleed released a statement to reconsider the discrepancy with Palestinian conflict.
